Tips from Viktoria for better skiing

Now that the season has been going on for a few days, everyone should have warmed up. Time to work on yourself! You can always improve your skiing :-)

Viktoria Rebensburg shares three tips with us on how everyone can improve their skiing technique:

  • LIFT THE INSIDE SKI:

I love the exercise " lift the inside ski" over the entire turn. Important: the tip of the inside ski should touch the snow. This keeps the skier's center of gravity at the front. For less experienced skiers, the inner ski can also be lifted only during the cross-country run. This exercise is great for balance and to keep the weight on the outer ski. In addition, the hips remain neutral and everyone can feel for themselves how best to balance.

  • FORWARD:

Many skiers sit too far back in terms of their center of gravity. It would therefore help to develop more pressure on the tongue of the ski boot. Ski instructors would refer to this as the famous lemon, which is imaginatively located between the shin and the tongue of the ski boot and which should be squeezed out with every turn. So we all need more lemon juice.

  • SUMMER BENEFITS:

The good skiers are made in summer! Mountain walking in summer is not only good for endurance, but also strengthens leg muscles, coordination and balance (depending on the terrain). It is also advisable to incorporate regular strength training in order to train both the leg and core muscles. But in general, each sport helps the other and, most importantly, fun should never be neglected.
