New construction of Schrödelsteinbahn
Shortly before the start of the 2017/2018 winter season, the Brauneck ski resort was faced with an important decision: The lifts in the Finstermünzkessel, which could no longer be run by the previous operator due to their age, had to be taken over.
Brauneck- und Wallbergbahnen GmbH decided to purchase the lifts and replaced the old system with the modern Schrödelsteinbahn. This investment not only ensures the continued existence of the ski area, but also significantly improves comfort and capacity for winter sports enthusiasts.
Something new is needed!
Shortly before the 2017/2018 winter season, the Brauneck ski resort was faced with a future-oriented challenge. The lifts in the Finstermünzkessel at the rear of Brauneck could no longer be operated by the previous owner for reasons of age and were up for sale.
The supports are in place
Brauneck- und Wallbergbahnen GmbH, which operates the gondola lift, the Garland lift and the Ahorn lift in the ski area and built the new Milchhäuslexpress two years ago, finally decided to take over the lifts. On the one hand out of respect for one of the lift pioneers at Brauneck, and on the other to ensure that the Brauneck-Wegscheid ski area can be maintained in its current form.
View of the construction site
Winter sports have a long and successful tradition in Lenggries and the ski area is an important economic factor that not only creates and secures jobs at the mountain railroads and in the catering trade, but also at the accommodation establishments, in the retail trade and in the skilled trades.
The new mountain station
Brauneck- und Wallbergbahnen GmbH is now replacing the old Finstermünzbahn, a double chairlift built in 1976, with a modern 6-seater chairlift from ropeway manufacturer LEITNER ropeways with weather protection hoods, heated seats, automatic locking and a height-adjustable conveyor belt for safe and comfortable access for children. The new Schrödelsteinbahn - as it will be called in the future - will transport 2,400 passengers per hour and thus significantly reduce queuing times in the "bottleneck" between the Bayern- and Florihang.
Snowmaking will also be extended to the runs in the Finstermünzkessel. The water for this comes from the reservoir at Garland, which was built in 2012.
